CHILLI CROP REPORT CHILLI MARKET RATES TREND ANALYSIS OUR PRICES

MP still seeing rain touch, damaged chillis -
Cold Stock is Very Low, Rates are expected to stay high until end of December.

Dec-8, 2019:

There's hardly any demand in the market and yet the rates have gone up for some varieties. The major contributing factor is the A/C Stock that is very low, and is reported to be around 5 lakh bags in the whole of South i.e. AP, TLG & KTK. And surprisingly, there is decrease in MP arrivals this week as there is possible crop damage and most of the arrivals here are medium to low quality chillies. Quality wise, it's the same situation in MAH state as well.

There are a couple of other factors in play that have also contributed for higher rates. Rates for S334, S10 & 273 were relatively high this week as there is still some demand from SriLanka particularly for Colombo quality. Rates for US 341, DD, Byadgi Syngenta, Endo 5 have risen up (color varieties) as these are being consumed by manufacturing units to prepare end products such as ground & crushed chillies. Rates for other varieties are steady or have come down.

However, the unfortunate matter this week is with MP arrivals as they were decreased by about 50% from previous weeks, i.e. only 45K to 55K bags of new arrivals as opposed to about 1 Lakh weekly new arrivals during the past couple weeks. The exact reason is still not known but the possible reason could be crop damage due to Oct-Nov rains. We should get a definitive answer depending on next week arrivals and market position by the week of Dec-15.

ARRIVALS (A/C & New) & SALES: About 45 to 55 Thousand New Arrivals in MP (BEDIA 15 to 20 Thousand bags. DHAMNOD 10 to 12 Thousand bags, INDORE 3 to 4 Thousand Bags, KUKSHI about 12 to 15 Thousand bags & JAGDALPUR (CTSG) 100 Bags & other locations about 2 to 3 Thousand Bags). NANDURBAR (MAH) has reported about 4000 to 5000 Bags of New Arrivals.

Reported from GUNTUR, about 2.1 to 2.4 Lakh Bags of A/C Arrivals & 15 to 19 Thousand Bags of New Arrivals. HYDERABAD has reported about 3.5 to 4.5 Thousand Bags of A/C Arrivals & about 9 to 10 Thousand Bags of New Arrivals. BYADGI has reported about 22 to 25 Thousand Bags of A/C Arrivals and 2000 to 3000 Bags of New Arrivals. KHAMMAM has reported 9 to 10 Thousand Bags of A/C Arrivals. New Arrivals have increased a little in this region to about bout 4000 to 5000 bags. WARANGAL has reported 12 to 16 Thousand Bags of A/C Arrivals. About 2500 to 4000 Bags of New Arrivals have arrived.

Current market position indicates business has continued to be very slow this week as well. Overall, less than 40% of arrivals were traded last week. About 0.8 to 0.9 lakh bags were traded in Guntur, & only 8000 bags in Byadgi.

FACTORS TO WATCH:
Stock: Very low every where. Not more than 5 lakhs bags in AP, TLG & KTK.
New Arrivals: Overall increasing gradually but there is a decrease in MP new arrivals which is a cause for concern.

NEAR TERM OUTLOOK: As the cold stock is very low and possible crop damage in MP, situation is vary at the moment as to how things will turn out until the end of this month. Good thing is that new arrivals in other locations are increasing gradually. Overall new arrivals in three states excluding MP is 40K to 45K, with Guntur witnessing a minimum average of 3000 bags per day, Hyderabad about 1500 bags per day & a definite increase overall in Khammam to 4K new bags & Warangal about 1000 bags.

Meanwhile, the requirement for quality chillies that needs fulfillment during this period is going to affect the prices, we are expecting the rates will slightly go up and going to stay in that range until end of this month.

Guntur Market Dry Red Chilli Prices

Rates as of: 19th DECEMBER 2019. A/C Arrivals: 10000 to 12000 Bags. New Arrivals: 15000 to 17000 Bags (About 80% Fatki & Rain Touch).
Today's Market Position: Demand for Teja, Byadgi 355, Syngenta, No-5 and 341 top qualities. Fatki Market slow & rates are down due to heavy arrivals.
New arrivals have started from Yemmiganur, Kurnool, Guntur, Krishna & Prakasham areas.
Last week 5 day arrivals: 1.8 to 2.1 Lakh Bags (45 to 55 Thousand New Arrivals). About 0.8 to 0.9 Lakh bags were traded.

A/C Arrivals: 3000 Bags (1000 bags were traded). New Arrivals: 28000 Bags (about 70% Last Quality).
Today's Market Position: Market is very slow. New arrivals have increased but about 70% is fatki quality.
New Crop Update (estimated): Crop loss is reported (estimated to be around 25% to 35%), prices are going to be high for quality chillies in the upcoming season in this region. KDL & DABBI - reported crop damage and seems like quality arrivals will be low in the next coming season.
Last week 2 day arrivals: 16 to 18 Thousand Bags. 6 to 8 thousand bags were traded.
